Efeler Road
With the application made by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tourism Branch Directorate, Efeler Yolu was included in the Top 100 Stories list in the '2023 Green Destinations Best 100 Stories' competition organized by Green Destination, the world's most prestigious institution in the field of 'Sustainable Tourism'.
The general purpose of Efeler Road is; To trigger a sustainable and holistic rural development in the region by ensuring the protection and utilization of the natural, historical and cultural richness of the region and thus to create socio-economic development in the local geography.
Efeler Yolu was born with this purpose; It is being implemented as a 500-kilometer, multi-stage and marked walking route, starting from Bornova district of Izmir, passing through Nif Mountain and Bozdağ mountain ranges, returning to Kiraz plateaus, and then ending at Meryemana in Ephesus Selçuk via Aydın mountain range. The path consists of 28 stages that can be walked in about a month. Stages vary in length from 13-26 kilometers and generally have “hard” difficulty levels.
Efeler Road; It connects important villages, plateaus and important Efe beds in terms of Efe/Zeybek culture using natural paths that are still preserved today. In this context, the road is located in Bornova, Kemalpaşa, Bayındır, Turgutlu, Ahmetli, Salihli, Ödemiş, Kiraz, Alaşehir, Beydağ, Nazilli, Sultanhisar, Köşk, Tire, İncirliova, in the provinces of İzmir, Manisa and Aydın, where the "efe/zeybek" culture is dominant. It interacts with Germencik and Selçuk districts.
Efeler Road; It is implemented with the support of Izmir Development Agency, in partnership with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir Governorship, Ege University, Izmir Regional Directorate of Forestry, Izmir Foundation, Izmir Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate and Efeler Yolu Association.
